ABOUT US
Women's Centre Waitakere was established in 1983 by a collective of like minded women wanting to bring about a change in our community and offer women and children a place to gather, seek support and advice and advocate on their behalf. We continue to work with women and children from the same site since our inception.The Centre is a safe space for women to access services such as counselling, workshops and courses, food and information regarding other community services. The Centre is committed to a future based on Te Tiriti o Waitangi. The Centre does not provide refuge or accommodation services.
OUR LOCATION
We are located in Te Atatu South in West Auckland. Our services operate from McLeod Road in Te Atatu South. We are on the corner of Te Atatu Road and McLeod road right by the lights. Full details can be found on our contact page.

COUNSELLING
The Centre offers a safe space for women to seek support relating to matters that concern them or their children. We offer counselling services for women, children at a subsidised rate. For more information please contact is through our counselling page.
COUNSELLING SESSIONS FOR AUCKLAND WOMEN WITH DEPENDENT CHILDREN- Terms and Conditions apply.
Six counselling sessions for women with dependent children living in Auckland subject to certain terms & conditions. Please email us at info@womenscentre.org.nz to find out if you qualify.
Six counselling sessions for women who have experienced domestic violence and live in Auckland subject to terms and conditions. Please email us at info@womenscentre.org.nz or contact us on 09 8386381.
We have openings for low cost counselling sessions with our counselors available. Please email us on info@womenscentre.org.nz to find out more.
If you require counselling we also have a student intern counsellors available Fridays 9:00am to 2:00pm who are able to provide counselling to those who require this.
COURSES AND GROUP SESSIONS
We offer courses and workshops for women at the Centre. Our 6 week Change, Growth and Transformation course, previously known as the "Journey of the Butterfly" course is very popular. This is aimed at women wanting to recognize and break the cycle of unhealthy relationships. For more details on this course please see our courses page. We also offer a 6 week programme aimed at helping women work through anger, frustration and anxiety. This Dealing with Difficult Emotions workshop includes tea/coffee and a workbook to keep. In 2021 we will be running the Kia Kaha young women's programme a six week programmefor young women aged 14 - 18 years

REFERRALS AND INFORMATION
We are not able to make or accompany clients to or drop off to appointments.
We are not a crisis support service and strongly encourage clients to contact one of the above agencies should they require immediate assistance.
DONATIONS WELCOME The Women's Centre relies on the generosity and kindness of our community to continue to provide our services to women and families in our community. We are a non profit, charity organisation that is able to continue the work in our community through grants, contracts and generosity of our community and businesses.
We are always on the look out for-
Helping hands with our garden/lawn maintenance and general cleaning. Non-perishable food items are always gratefully received which we are then able to redistribute to our clients
Unfortunately we are unable to take donations of large items, electrical appliances or books but do call us and we may be able to facilitate an exchange for you

Where can I park?
We have one or two parks around the back of our building off Te Atatu Rd, or you can park outside the front in McLeod Rd.
WILL ANYONE i KNOW BE AWARE I AM COMING TO COUNSELLING OR COURSES?
No. All our information is kept confidential from everyone outside the centre.
can i drop in anytime if i need to?
Unfortunately we are not funded for drop-ins and open by appointment only. We are also not a residential centre. However, if you are in crisis, please contact 0800 543 354 (0800 LIFELINE) or free text 4357 (HELP) or Women's Refuge 0800 733 843
